Project Background
As part of a broader impetus to transform and simplify the in-store experience for their shoppers, Kohl’s announced a store-in-store partnership with Sephora. The new concept included installing a 2,500 square foot, fully immersive beauty experience that mimicked the look and feel of a freestanding Sephora – Kohl’s wanted to roll this out across the entire store footprint over three years.
The new Sephora store-in-store was to be positioned prominently at the front of the Kohl’s store, and allow customers to peruse the full product assortment, and engage with Sephora-trained beauty advisors.
Agility Retail was selected as the sole manufacturer of cashwraps and backwraps.

Project Highlights
The design posed some challenges, including:
- Blending wood, black and white solid surface, steel and a specially coated low iron black glass that was ANSI accredited and UL approved
- Creating a process sheet by which a store associate can buff out any scratches on the solid surface, to allow for ongoing maintenance.
The roll-out was large and needed to be completed quickly – transforming 850 stores in an 18-month window. Agility Retail hit every milestone.
Customer Success
Sephora at Kohl’s has been driving sales, bringing in new, younger and more diverse customers, and enabling cross-category purchases across all lines of business.
In addition, Kohl’s was impressed by Agility Retail’s work, and commissioned additional cashwraps to enhance the checkout lanes. In Spring and Summer 2024, over 2,500 new cashwraps were installed across 350 stores.
